Brighton Bridesmaids

I have always wanted to a bridesmaid. Finally this year I got to be one. The wedding prep luckily hasn't been to drawn out with the engagement happening a mere 9 months ago. Last weekend after all the dress fittings, hen do's, present buying, prepping and planning the day arrived and we hopped on down to Brighton.
Before...looking pretty fresh
Although the wedding was taking place in a country house in the middle of no where about 40 minutes outside of Brighton, we stayed in a suite in a seafront hotel the night before - mainly to get some fabulous pictures. The sun shone for us but the wind on the bandstand was pretty nippy. There seems to be a lot of squinting going on.
Ready to roll
Are we making the sky look blue, or is it making us?
For ref, I did my own hair and make-up as well as S's (far left) I'm pretty nifty with the GHD's don't you know...also the necklace was a gift from the bride. We each have one (including She) and they are opposite wings, two of each.

Later on of course I did NOT look quite so put together and Sunday was mostly spent sleeping/eating full English breakfasts and Chinese food and groaning and the thought of how much champagne I drank. We laughed all the way home in the car reminiscing about things that had occurred throughout the day/night and cracking up at absolutely anything. Safe to say, it's a good job I wasn't driving! Also in the car the inevitable conversation of 'which one of us will be next' cropped up. I shall keep the answer a secret...

Max didn't want to be left out, such a handsome fellow

Beside the Seaside

With wedding season in full swing, my latest adventure was to the north of England for a country wedding by the seaside. What with the weather of late I didn't even bother to pack a pair of sun glasses - however I was not compromising on the dress.

The hotel had 2 very nice features...the view and the roll top bath. These were very enjoyable things for me. Aside from actually at the wedding I spent a considerable amount of time in the latter - from which you could see the former (technicality that it probably meant the people outside could see me...)

Clog Blog

So I've been quiet this week as work has been mayhental (I new word I have created based on being mayhem and mental...controlled mayhem mind you). I am now off for a very country wedding so will continue to be off line as I don't believe there to be internet connection where I am headed! In better news I relocated the whereabouts of my camera cord so photo uploads can continue business as usual.

Before the wedding season thoroughly kicks off and in between exhaustion fully setting in, I've found the best thing ever for tired tootsies. Today I received these...what a gift. Almost too good to just wear in the house, definite consideration for wearing to the office. Makes you want to do a little dance really!

Until the next time, I'm clogging off (god I'm funny in these)

A Very Country Wedding

Once we settled into Devon it was time to head to the village of Appledore for a very traditional British wedding.

After weeks of terrible weather and torrential rail (during the *ahem* drought) we were luckily blessed with a sunny but crisp day. The church was very nice, the west coast of the country is very hilly aka lots of nice views and houses precariously perched on banking countryside hills.

The vicar conducting the wedding was absolutely brilliant, I'm not sure he was supposed to have the congregation in stitches after quips such as FHB..."family hold back, stay out of their marriage if they want your help they'll ask", if your children are likely to cry/make a lot of noise please take them outside and leave them there, otherwise no one will be concentrating. He was a bit like a warm up guy, I'd quite like him for my wedding. We were surprised to not see him handing out business cards as we exited.

As we did exit the RNLI were on hand to provide a precession. The wedding 'car' was the best I've seen. The groom works with the RNLI and they didn't disappoint even providing a ladder to preserve the brides modesty...

Onto the reception we snuck in before everyone else to have a nose, all very British with Pimms and cream tea to be served first. The church hall had been decorated with bunting fairly lights and much more tasteful chintz than that awaiting us back at the hotel.

For dinner it was a hog roast, and it was delicious. I piled my plate with mozzarella avocado and rocket salad, coleslaw and lots and lots of pig. We went back for seconds and ate far too much, especially as we hadn't seen what was to come for desert. Being Devon it was local ice cream ad clotted cream with help yourself toppings, honeycomb, smarties, marshmallows, fruit, sauce, hundreds and thousands...a big kids dream. None of us could manage seconds of this.

Such is the way, we drank and ate into the small hours, dancing our little Loubie's off. It was a gorgeous day, followed by a reluctant trip back to the hotel and then 5 more hours with the joys of First Great Western.
